Summary: In this hot tale, Mr. Darcy confesses the truth about George Wickham right from the start, warning Elizabeth and the rest of Meryton about Wickham’s despicable character. Will his honesty change the way Elizabeth feels about him and his previous poor behavior? Will he still have to transform himself to win her love? And what will happen when scandal erupts?

Gioia’s Rec:

I’ve read this story more than once and really love the alternate take on P&P. The story is notorious for having premarital sex in it and some rather smutty scenes.  But even aside from those well-written moments, the story has a great premise and I enjoyed the different direction the story takes to achieve the same humbling of Mr. Darcy while also waking Elizabeth up to her prejudice.  Ultimately the story is a great romance.

My only critique: I’m going to be upfront and admit that parts of the story could be considered OOC.  But I think of it much the way I do many romance novels inspired by P&P.  That is, it contains the basic components of the book, but the author opted not to attempt to recreate all of the original elements, choosing instead to focus on something else.   With that approach, I can thoroughly enjoy this story without fussing over how true-to-canon some details are.  This is a published P&P story.
