Summary: Elizabeth finds herself in a carriage with Darcy, Caroline, and Mrs. Hurst. When they are attacked by robbers, Darcy quickly comes to her defense.

Gioia’s Rec:
This is one of my favorite JA fics. I particularly like how angry this fic can make me, as it neatly avoids fluff or unnecessary angst and delves right into the complicated relationship between Elizabeth & Darcy. The same issues exist here as are in P&P – the protagonists merely deal with them in a different setting, under more dramatic circumstances. This is one of the few P&P fics with a real action/drama plot.

My only critique: Canon purists may not enjoy it as the premise for the fic is based upon Elizabeth being in the carriage with Mr. Darcy, Mrs. Hurst and Miss Bingley, and that scenario is rather unlikely.

    This is one of my favorites, too. In fact, Jan H’s stories probably occupy 3 out of my 5 favorite P&P fanfictions! The ending of this story is very sweet. I almost wish there’s a squeal for Morgan! Jan H is an amazing story teller. No matter how her stories deviate from the original Elizabeth and Darcy always stay close to their character.
