Summary: What if Mrs. Philips had gotten it wrong? What if the rumour of Darcy’s worth had been seriously underestimated?

Gioia’s Rec:
This amusing story has long stayed with me, not just for its wit, but for the way it realistically addressed the consequences of such a mix-up.  The lovely tale entertained me so well, I wish it had been much longer. But I will concede that it is perfectly concise, with a well-defined beginning, middle and end. So my wishes would probably ruin it. (Though that obviously isn’t stopping me from whining.)
My Only Critique: There are a few typos in the story, most noticeably in the Meryton Assembly scene in which some quotation marks are missing.
