Story Summary: Ten years after the defeat of Voldemort, Lee Jordan asks what life was like during the Death-Eaters’ reign for the Muggleborn son of a prominent Tory family, and what he learned as a member of the commission which investigated how they came to power.
I absolutely love this author and tend to recommend his stories to any newcomer to the fandom. This story gives ample justification for my fangirly behavior. Ajarntham is in his element when he writes in this transcript style. He’s one of the rare authors who can convey an enormous amount without a traditional narrative. The ability to express such strong emotion and sketch such clear images with only dialogue is very unique. But the story-telling method becomes quickly irrelevant as you are sucked into the spectacular tales which Justin and Lee convey. The background details of the war are rich and fascinating in this narrative. I’ve always wondered what the Order of the Phoenix and the DA (not including those at Hogwarts) were doing during the war. In addition, I’ve wondered if anything like a war crimes tribunal would’ve taken place after the war. Thanks to Ajarntham, I feel like I have those answers. The story isn’t just canon-compliant, it feels like actual canon. HP/GW in the background, as they are mentioned briefly in the interview.
