Story Summary: In the aftermath of the final battle, Ron and Hermione finally manage to slip away, and find a moment for themselves. Not that I would ever complain against the Ron/Hermione bits we were given in Book 7, but a teensy bit of me was still left wanting, and this kind of covers that. A good kiss is one thing, but they have a LOT left to talk about. Just my bit of sweet to add to the end of Deathly Hallows.

Gioia’s Rec:
As one of the sweetest Ron/Hermione fics I’ve ever encountered, “At Last” features the post-battle conversation between Hermione and Ron.  Their insecurities are bared along with their fears, their conflicts during the previous year – as well as some from far beyond that.  Cardinalgirl captures their voices beautifully in this very true to canon fic told from Ron’s point of view.  I loved the honesty of it.  It’s not exactly angsty nor is it quite happy enough to be fluff.  It’s just a lovely example of how well-written dialogue can convey so much depth of emotion, such rich imagery, and such hope and potential.  This tale is a perfect capstone to Deathly Hallows for Ron/Hermione fans.

For an added treat, check out Cardinalgirl’s fantastic fics in the Roswell fandom.
