Gioia’s Rec:
One of my favorite aspects of this fic was that it was begun post-HBP but completed post-DH.  Because the author didn’t know how Remus and Tonks’ story would end, there is an air of the unexpected that fits in beautifully with all the uncertainty of this wartime romance.  The final chapters were completed post-DH, so the story is completely consistent with canon.

The story of how Remus and Tonks met, fell in love, and struggled with the reality of “too old, too poor, too dangerous” is told from Tonks’ perspective, beginning prior to GoF.  Thanks to the author’s keen insights into these characters, the reader comes to a better understanding of why Tonks loved Remus, what it was about him that caused her to fight so hard for their relationship, and why Remus struggled so hard to accept that love.  This is a beautiful series of missing moments which compliment canon beautifully as the author leads us through what did happen and what probably happened, with a sweet glimpse into what might have been.
