A Law of the Medes and Persians by SnorkackCatcher

Story Title: A Law of the Medes and Persians
Author Name: SnorkackCatcher
Story Url: Story Link
Content Rating: All Ages
Status: Completed
Length: Novella
Story Summary: Harry would have liked a little peace and quiet after the Battle of Hogwarts to decide what he wanted to do next (although rebuilding his relationship with Ginny was definitely high on the list). But any such hopes were dashed by unexpected threats to his godson and to Kingsley’s position as Minister, and once again, he and his friends found themselves taking on an old enemy … A story in four parts.

Gioia’s Rec:
One of the most creative and original fics I’ve seen post-DH, “Medes & Persians” is set at the end of Deathly Hallows; pre-Epilogue, but fully canon-consistent.  I was delighted by how solid the characterizations in this fic are.  But even more, I completely enjoyed the nail-biting plot which has at least some basis in a Perry Mason tale.  The fic features a courtroom showdown between Umbridge and Hermione, Ministry intrigue, all the post-war, wherever-shall-I-go career choices one would expect of the trio during this time period, and at the heart of it all, a beautifully written story juggling numerous players and a complex dilemma for our heroes to overcome.  I love CC (conventional or canon couples) tales that capture so much of the spirit of the novels.  This is definitely one of them.
