Gioia’s Rec:
I don’t know if the author is a mother, but Lady Altair certainly knew how to evoke a mother’s emotions when writing this fic.  The story is short, but it summons the most basic instincts.  The concisely worded narrative made me understood immediately how it would feel to be in Narcissa’s place as she watches Andromeda grieve over Tonks’ body.  Using a lullaby as a common tie, not just between the two sisters, but between author and reader was a brilliant plot device.  The baby in Andromeda’s arms cried throughout much of the story, as will most readers.  But there is a sense of healing, an emotionally cathartic experience, that comes from this fic.  The lullaby and the sense of healing set this fic apart as more than just an excuse to yank at the reader’s heartstrings.  The story is a great example of how grief can be a unifying element; again, between both the characters in this fic as well as the readers and, perhaps, between all those in that wizarding world.
