Gioia’s Rec:
I’ve seen numerous fics that explore the “princess in the tower” syndrome that Ginny was expected to face during Deathly Hallows. And although canon didn’t leave her locked up quite as tightly as the fandom expected, the basic idea still works.  The Ginny we saw at the end of Book 7 – fighting with her parents for the right to enter the battle – is very much a mirror of the Ginny represented in this fic.  The 3rd Person Narrative really works well here.  It feels detached and distanced somehow, which is perfect for conveying Ginny’s mood.  And while the advanced spellwork that Ginny masters while on her own may be a bit unrealistic, the basic concept is not.  I like the caged tiger analogy that is used, as it perfectly brings to mind the pacing, furious, anxious, aching-for-action mood that Ginny has here.  All in all, a fantastic fic.  Definitely top of the lot when it comes to this type of story.  I’m marking this as a Gen fic, as that’s really what it is, but also indicating the pairing, since you can see the HP/GW pairing if you squint really hard.
