A Whole Minute by ladybug

Story Title: A Whole Minute
Author Name: Ladybug
Story Url: Story Link
Content Rating: All Ages
Status: Completed
Length: Novella
Story Summary: A minute can be a defining moment, a turning point, or just another episode in what makes you the person you are. A minute, for Seamus Finnigan, can last an inordinately long time or pass in the blink of an eye. But every minute makes him who he is.

Gioia’s Rec:
One of my favorite alternate-POV pieces, this seven-part series takes canon moments in Seamus Finnigan’s life and expands them.  In one defining moment per year at Hogwarts, we explore what Seamus is thinking and experiencing and how that affects his growth.

My favorite moments are those in fifth through seventh years.  Seamus is forced to abandon boyhood and make some tough decisions in those years – decisions that define the man he becomes. I also love the conclusion to this story.   Seamus’ perspective on the chaos and terror that makes up his seventh year add enormously to our understanding of what was going on at Hogwarts that year, but more importantly his perspective shows us the results of all his earlier growth. We see in Seamus a character we can respect and admire; a character we can be proud of.
