Justice by Calico

Story Title: Justice
Author Name: Calico
Story Url: Story Link
Story Rating: All Ages
Status: Completed
Length: Short Story
Story Summary: From a challenge: Neville’s reaction at the end of GoF. How does he feel about Mad-eye Moody actually turning out to be Barty Crouch Jnr, one of the people convicted of the attack on his parents?

Gioia’s Rec:
Somehow, until I read this story, it had never occurred to me what it must have felt like to Neville Longbottom to realize he had received private counsel as well as a year’s worth of classroom instruction, from his parents’ assailant. Unlike Harry, we know Neville always knew exactly what happened to his parents and who was responsible.

I loved the thoughtful, honest way this story examined how Neville must have felt upon hearing who Moody really was during “Goblet of Fire.” This author really gets Neville and does an admirable job of taking us inside his head and on a journey of self-discovery and purpose. Brilliant.
