Story Summary: A fluffy romp through unconventional courtship following the Netherfield Ball.

Gioia’s Rec:
This was a very cute “romp,” as the story summary so aptly describes.  The plot includes a lot of silliness and was, as a result of the high quality of writing, very entertaining.  The comedy of errors includes several baffled gentlemen, a household of young ladies intent upon avoiding seeing one of their number becoming Mrs. Collins, and some ornery farm animals to break up a scene should there be a risk of things becoming too serious at any given moment.

My only critique: This marvelous farce was right up my alley, but there are some absurdities in the story which may be bothersome to certain readers.  For example, the speed with which two of the courtships take place, as well as the insanity of Mr. Collins’ frequent companion, are certainly unlikely.  But as the story is not meant to be taken too literally, I can’t object to such inclusions. It’s too well written and too fun to read for me to find anything worthy of serious critique.
