Gioia’s Rec:
Wow.  I don’t even know where to start in my praise of this series.  WendyMR pointed me toward this series, and I stayed up ridiculously late in in order to practically inhale it.

I adore Doomsday fix-its, and so the first story in this series really hit the spot in that regard.  And it isn’t even a mere Doomsday fic, either.   It’s a complete re-imagining of those two pivotal episodes, as the Doctor and Rose arrive at Torchwood a full two months earlier than they did in canon, and that changes everything.  The adventure is incredible.  The resolution – phenomenal. I love this.

The next two stories involve the Doctor and Rose traveling with Jack.  In “The Planted Past,” we discover the answer to some questions that have been bothering fans since Series 1 aired.  As with the previous fic, Sanguine Ink manages to produce some fantastic, plotty, utterly captivating solutions to what I had previously thought were rather simple questions. What a wild ride that story turns out to be, though, in answering what were ultimately far more complicated questions than I could ever have imagined.  There’s an absolutely brilliant bit of timey-wimey going on in this fic which fans of these three characters will adore.

And speaking of timey-wimey, wait till you hit the final fic in this series: “Loop,” which is a very Jack-centric fic.  It’s like Groundhog day in a very, very vague way, but only because there’s a time loop at play.  Watch for some fantastic references to Series 5 of Doctor Who and Series 2 of Torchwood.
